Convert any time, anywhere.
Pick a time, a source zone and a target zone. See the converted time, the exact hour difference, whether it lands on the next or previous day, and what the clock reads in cities around the world.
The time
What this means
World clock right now
The current local time in major cities, based on standard offsets. Cities on daylight saving time will read one hour later than shown.
Conversion scorecard
Your time across major cities
The same instant you entered, shown on the local clock of each city. A day tag appears when the local date differs.

Time zones, explained
How Time Zone Conversion Works
Time zones are defined as offsets from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). To convert between zones, the calculator finds the UTC equivalent of your source time, then applies the target zone offset. For example, 3 PM EST (UTC-5) equals 8 PM GMT (UTC+0).
Major World Time Zones
Key time zones include EST/EDT (US East Coast, UTC-5/-4), PST/PDT (US West Coast, UTC-8/-7), GMT (London, UTC+0), CET (Central Europe, UTC+1), IST (India, UTC+5:30), JST (Japan, UTC+9), and AEST (Australia East, UTC+10).
Daylight Saving Time Considerations
This calculator uses standard time offsets. During daylight saving time, clocks move forward by one hour in many regions. For example, EST (UTC-5) becomes EDT (UTC-4). Check whether DST is in effect for your specific date and region.
Scheduling Across Time Zones
When scheduling international meetings, find overlapping business hours. US East Coast (EST) and Western Europe (CET) overlap from about 9 AM to noon EST. US West Coast and East Asia have minimal overlap, often requiring early morning or late evening calls.
Common questions
Does this calculator handle daylight saving time?
This calculator uses fixed UTC offsets for standard time. Daylight saving time shifts vary by date and region. During DST, add one hour to the standard offset (for example, EST becomes EDT at UTC-4 instead of UTC-5).
What if the converted time goes past midnight?
If the result exceeds 23:59 or goes below 00:00, the calculator wraps around and indicates whether it falls on the next day (+1 day) or previous day (-1 day).
Why does India have a half-hour offset?
India Standard Time (IST) is UTC+5:30, using a 30-minute offset to better align with the country geographical position. Nepal uses UTC+5:45, and a few other zones also use non-whole-hour offsets.
How do I convert between US time zones quickly?
The US continental time zones are one hour apart. EST is 1 hour ahead of CST, which is 1 hour ahead of MST, which is 1 hour ahead of PST. So 3 PM EST = 2 PM CST = 1 PM MST = 12 PM PST.
Estimates only. This tool uses fixed standard-time UTC offsets and does not track daylight saving transitions, which vary by date and region. Confirm whether DST is in effect before scheduling anything time-critical.
